Where to eat in Bahrain- BRAZIL GRILL AND LOUNGE

During one of my Birthday Celebration spent with Nicole, we went to one of the coolest bars I’ve ever been, Brazil Lounge, which is familiar with all you can eat and drink dining. Salad, barbecue grills, seafood grills, chicken grills, sweets all in one.

It isn’t my first time in the restaurant as we used to go here with my friends for about twice or thrice already, but it is my first time on the bar upstairs.

image

Cozy dim-lit bar. I liked the traces of orange in a slightly-lit bar.

image

We had a pitcher of frozen lemon and strawberry margarita and wine.

image

Plus they gave us this free 2 shots of Brain damaged.

image

With this exquisite mouth-watering scrumptious meal, ( well, that ’s how I want to describe it aside some are a little bit too salty for me), but isn’t that bad after all.

image

I would still recommend this cozy restaurant that offers a variety of grills. The price is way much affordable with BHD12 something on Tuesday nights.

Cabanatuan City, home sweet home!

My beloved Hometown.

The place where I was born and graduated. Where I spent almost all of my childhood and teen days.

Cabanatuan, officially the City of Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija Philippines. The city is popular for being home to more than 30,000 tricycles, thus priding itself as the “Tricycle Capital of the Philippines” and its strategic location along the Cagayan Valley Road has made the city a major economic, educational, medical, entertainment shopping and transportation center in Nueva Ecija and nearby provinces in the region such as Aurora and Bulacan. It has also earned the moniker “Gateway to the North”.

Cabanatuan City is found in the province of Nueva Ecija — the Rice Granary of the Philippines.  Cabanatuan is also declared as a highly urbanized city. It is very progressive with a lot of Shopping malls, Bars & Restaurants, Lounges, Recreations, Cinemas, Hotels, and yeah, people here are quite a spender, you could easily put up a small business. Definitely, Cabanatuan has a lot to pride itself with.

It is easily accessible through a 3-hour bus ride from Metro Manila that passes through the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX).

Been everywhere in Cabanatuan City and definitely, it’s a place worth to stay.

You wouldn’t find a hard time looking for a place to eat as there are so many to choose for. From Traditional Filipino food, American, Asian, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Mediterranean, from affordable to expensive, from fast food to fine dining, you would find everything here.

METRO MANILA

Metropolitan Manila is the seat of government and one of the three defined metropolitan areas of the Philippines. It is officially known as the National Capital Region, and is commonly known as Metro Manila or simply Manila. It is made up of 16 cities namely: the City of Manila (the Philippine capital), Quezon City (the country’s most populous city and former capital, Caloocan, Las Pinas, Makati, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Paranaque, Pasay, Pasig, San Juan, Taguig and Valenzuela as well as the City of Pateros.

Although Metro Manila is not considered a province, it is included in the 81 provinces of the Philippines.

Since it is very near to my hometown, I guess I have traveled almost everywhere here since as a child. It is just strange that I couldn’t find a nice photo of mine anywhere else in the area or maybe I couldn’t think of snapping one when I’m around Metro Manila, haha.

RESTAURANT: SHABU SHABU

Restaurants in Bahrain

This doesn’t seem very extraordinary or very unusual place, but I find it quite satisfying to try some Japanese Resto for some time.

To have shabu-shabu!

Shabu shabu is a Japanese hotpot dish of thin-sliced meat and vegetables in boiled broth.

Boiled in the metal pot at the center of the dining table, while the pot is simmering, the ingredients are placed in the pot and is cooked at the table.

image

And since I haven’t tried this for a very long time, having this once again after so long is kinda exquisite and distinctive to my taste bud.

image

Plus, finally, I found the best ever siomai ever steamed in BH. =)

image

… who can ever say no to this tempting, delightful mouthwatering mint ice cream for dessert?

I don’t usually choose Japanese food (especially this very light one) to any get together with friends and I don’t prefer to eat buffet as well since I eat very little, but this is the kind of food that you will enjoy until the last drop of soup, so I would highly recommend trying at least once every while, plus very affordable for BD10.5.

Location: NANO Japanese Restaurant- Manama Bahrain

You will definitely love it!

BAMBU

Restaurants in Bahrain

After almost three months, I and my friends decide to meet out for dinner.

It has been a while since the last time we had a get together in a Korean Restaurant, Da Rae Jung, where food is quite expensive I would say but not that exquisite, well from my taste of food.–> Actually, it’s not that bad haha! But the fact that I do not like much of Korean food says it all.

Again, it’s a Monday Club on a Tuesday night dinner!

After suggesting a lot of options from different fine-dine restaurants, we finally decided to try BAMBU!

It ’s a variety of Chinese, Thai, Vietnam cuisine. If you are craving for Chinese food, definitely I would suggest the superb food of BAMBU.

image

From Salt and Pepper prawns to mussels, to prawn toast and chicken rolls, and a variety of others, Beef, and chicken.

The price is about BD12.500 per head but alcohol is not included if you want to go for with unlimited alcohol, the price would be BD16.

image

Mussels and Tempura.

image

With free Jasmine-tea after the meal.

Dinner starts from 7PM to 11Pm daily.

BAHAY KUBO

Restaurants in Bahrain

I LOVE HOME FOOD BUT I PREFER TO EAT OUT– one of my quotations.

Since I hardly cook at all, I always have the time to track down all the nice Restaurants around the area.

As I do not eat much during weekdays but on Weekends, I always treat myself to something extraordinary, this is what we call, the cheat night.

This weekend, I craved for something traditional.

We went to this Filipino Restaurant that is owned by a good friend of mine. This is something just like a home-food in a restaurant.

The taste of Filipino food.

BAHAY KUBO.

image

Their specialty is Crispy Pata ( pork leg) but I ordered something different.

image

This mouth-watering ” Kare- Kare” ( this is a traditional Filipino recipe made of Oxtail, beef tripe and vegetables cooked in thickened peanut butter), is also one of my favorite in this restaurant. They served it hot in a pot.

image

And of course the all time-Filipino favorite, “Sinigang na baboy”, ( Pork stew in Tamarind Broth). This tamarind sour soup is better off to eat with rice.

image

For starter/appetizer, “Calamari”. This is a  batter coated squid- deep fried squid rings.

image

…and a lemonade and sago and gulaman for refreshment.

..and it’s kinda affordable to have spent around BHD11 ( around One thousand three hundred in peso conversion) for two people.

image

Me and my friend Nicole.

If you want to feel at home away from our home and craving for something homely, I’m highly recommending BAHAY KUBO FILIPINO RESTAURANT, one of the best, tidiest not to mention that top of the line quality service.

What Bahrain is all about

BH

Bahrain is an archipelago made up of 33 islands located off the coast of SA.

With a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-denominational society, Bahrain is an attractive destination for expat families.

Bahrain is the freest economy in the MENA region, and among the “mostly free” economies worldwide.

image

What more can you ask for than living a tax-free lifestyle?

A small island where everything is within your reach.

The food is cheap, (well, aside from a little bit expensive but manageable flat rents, everything would be perfect), because the cost of living is not that high.

Not much of a language barrier because English is their second dialect.

image

Simple life. Simple Living. Easy to find jobs. What else?

You’ve got the best of everything in BH. From food to drinks to bars, to affordable hotels. Although this isn’t a tourist spot or a holiday destination as there isn’t much of a place to see, the fact that you can go around the whole Bahrain in just a day, this place is definitely good for beginners.

image

BH at night.

Been here for almost a decade now and I would say that I have already adopted their simple ways of living.

Isn’t it just comfortable working in a Company that would provide you with the easiest mode of transportation going in and out of work? A pick and drop service directly at your doorsteps and send you back home? Well, most of the Companies in Bahrain do that.

Or isn’t it just comfortable that everything is within your reach? Everywhere is almost nearby. A supermarket by walk, a Hospital by walk, A shopping Mall by walk, No hassles of going anywhere.

Restaurants are almost everywhere. From Asian cuisine, Chinese, American, Europian,  Mediterranean, fusion, vegan, vegetarian, whatever your choice is, are always easy to find. You won’t have a hard time finding your own list of delicacies.

I just find it easy and more comfortable to live here.

Although just like any other Country, safety relies on your own precautions.

Overall, I just love this place this much. My home…away from home!

Review- Bohemian Rhapsody Film

Finally, The Long wait is over. Bohemian Rhapsody, the biographical film about the British Rock band Queen is now showing in Cinemas.  The story about Queen,  their Music and the extraordinary life of the Band Lead Singer- Freddie Mercury (Farrokh Bulsara in real life), on and off the stage life,  his drug addiction, his gay-life, exploited by the wrong crowd and friends and his battle after being diagnosed with AIDS infection.

My thoughts about it? Although it has been observed that a one and a half hour film wouldn’t be able to tackle and compress Freddie’s colorful life, only on limited measures since it fails to elaborate much of Freddie’s life and times and his sexuality. It feels like the story is being told in a fast-forward mode that the audience was completely left out disappointingly, wanting to explore more all the highlights of his story in a much more detailed manner.

I like the portrayal of almost every one of the cast. Rami Malek impersonation of Mercury is terrific. Although his transformation is slightly exaggerated particularly those dental prosthetics (that made him look a little bit like a rat)  and his accent is quite a little bit over-do. But then, he totally nailed how he deploys every move, even a snap of the finger,  the energy, and flamboyance of Mercury.

Gwilym Lee as Bryan May, (Oh well, I think Gwilym Lee is a much better Bryan May than Bryan May is Bryan May), Ben Hardy as Roger Taylor, and Joseph Mazzelo as John Deacon looks similarly the same and did a great job on their portrayals as well, no doubt about that.

Overall, It’s a great movie, great cast, something worth to watch because of everyone’s superb performance although some are entirely superficial. Rami Malek does a brilliant job and the film entirely relied on his portrayal. A masterpiece though it wasn’t written accurately.

Mercury is a Legend. Whether or not it is accurately told, the performance itself did well. The Live aid part (the highlight of the movie) actually made me believe that I’m watching it for real.

Not to mention that for some reason, I felt sad when I re-watched the QUEEN Live Aid performance again that made me want to cry. Just by watching him perform that day, regardless of his illness, the high energy is actually heartbreaking.

Freddie Mercury and Queen indeed are one of the most beloved performers on the planet. They reached unparallel success during their time, and one of the GREATEST ROCK BAND IN HISTORY.

image

Queen is definitely the Best Entertainer of all time! And yeah, I’ve always admired Queen for the longest time now…

5 Stars 🙂

Review- NOBODY

Spoiler ahead, haha!

As much as I’m fascinated with Time Travel and Sci-fi films and having a very little interest in Drama, I happened to cross over this Sci- Fiction Drama Film titled Mr. Nobody starring Jared Leto while browsing on Net Flix.

And to my surprise, it’s actually good, if not to consider one of the films that made a great impact on me. I literally cried (can’t help it) to the character’s life choices and decisions and the possible outcome on his multi-selves dimension.

To start with, this is the story of Nemo, a 118-year-old last mortal on earth (after the human race has achieved the immortality, the year 2092) as he narrates the three stages of his life at the age of nine, fifteen and thirty-four. Beginning from the time he was obliged to make a very critical choice on his parent’s split-up and how alternate paths branched in between (two alternate storylines when he chose to remain with his father and the other story when he chose to live with his mother) showing all the possible outcomes and possible futures from his different decisions and life choices and how he tries to find the correct decision in every choice he made up to the conclusion of what could have been, what could have happened if he chose a different one.

image

Interesting right? It’s actually Sci-fiction Time travel with a touch of reality. How life would be if we were able to see our future self ahead upon every single decision we make in life and have the chance to go back and choose a different path and re-correct the mistakes by having multi-versions of ourselves in different dimensions of our choice like NEMO with his different life- Life when he stayed with his mother, Life when he stayed with his father, Life with his three wives, with different kids, with different houses and different career, and all with different endings.

I’ve always had this weird fantasy sometimes I wish I could see the future me and I could go back and re-do some of the bad decisions I made in the past and to clearly see how would I be if I chose a different one.

But what amazed me was the conclusion at the end, that NEMO might have never been existed and wasn’t born after all. He was just a product of the nine- year old child imagination at the train when he is about to make a very critical choice in his life.

This film is one of the most engaging pieces of drama I have seen in such a long time. It was boring at the beginning but once you get to understand the story, with all the flashbacks and visions of his would-be life in the future, you will definitely get hooked. Tbh, the movie is difficult to follow for an ordinary watcher. I literally cried on some scenarios with his father, with his mother, how we waited for the love of his life, Ana, and how they never met in another timeline. The story’s sense and wide visualization of life and death and time and love and choices made this worth to watch.

Where to eat in Bahrain- Le Meridien

Restaurants in Bahrain

Le Meridien Hotel is a 5 Star Hotel directly attached to City Center, BH Largest Mall. With that, they have one of the Best Restaurant named Baharat that offers a variety of cuisine, International, Mediterranean, Sushi, European, and Asian among others and have the chance to experience the Live cooking stations.

Ik, the price is a little bit costly, BHD28++ inclusive,(something like PHP4k per person) free flow of alcoholic beverage and BHD19++ inclusive, free flow of non-alcoholic beverage, but then, the quality of food, the ambiance, and the service is excellent, plus of course, what do you expect for a five-star hotel?

It’s like we were planning to set dinner with my old friends (used to be Monday Group), for a very long time but as always, we couldn’t find the best time when everyone is free as one would always be out of the Country. Until finally, we all decided to get together this Wkend (though some are still out of the Country) and pick Le Meridian Hotel in Seef area.

TBh, I’m not fond of Sashimi and sushi, haha, strange but true, I think I’m one of the few who doesn’t eat much of this food, but since there are a lot of choices and it was a Seafood Buffet that night, with a variety of starters and appetizers, so I agreed.

image
image
image
image
image
image

The food was exceptional, the seafood options were all so delicious and in good sized portions and different cooking. The choice of salads, cheeses, bread, sides, and desserts are exquisite. It is seafood night, but there are also choices for vegan, Asian, Indian and others. Free flow of unlimited drinks, I think I had a glass of pina colada, and a few glasses more of Mojito.

Not to mention that the staff was also so friendly, helpful and courteous and The band is great musicians, the whole experience with friends are a truly remarkable one.

image
image

So I had Oysters and Lobsters and Prawns to name a few.

To end with, I had fun with old friends. That (almost) once a year get together was a night full of catching up from the long lost time since everyone is now busy with own family life. I remember how we used to drink and rock the different bars and hotels until the wee hours of the morning, about 8 years ago and how life would eventually change when you started to focus on the real life.

Good food, good friends, a night of catching up, perfect restaurant!
