From Bahrain to Australia: Our first year down under

18.08.2025- One year down under

After nearly two decades of living and working in Bahrain, a small and comfortable place we called home, we decided to take the biggest decision of our lives – moving to a bigger, and more diverse country like Australia.

It wasn’t easy leaving our comfort zone, our friends, and a life where everything was within our reach and familiar. Life in Bahrain was convenient, safe, predictable, and warm, but we wanted more adventure, more opportunities, and a brighter future for our little family.

This past year has been a mix of challenges, lessons, and so many beautiful moments.

It hasn’t been all sunshine. We’ve faced and still facing some uncertainties, and wrestled with Bahrain-homesickness. Coming from a small country where everything was close, adjusting to long travel times and a bigger, more spread-out lifestyle took some getting used to. But each hurdle taught us resilience. We’ve learned patience and the value of appreciating the little things.

One year down, a few more to go, hopefully.

Here’s to our life in Australia, the land we now call our home.
